Pharaoh Confounded! (Illustration: http://www.chabad.org)

The Passover is a very significant festival for Jewish people. It marks the day they received deliverance, by unparalleled divine intervention, from their oppressors. It was a battle that was fought and won not with bows and arrows, but by being obedient and rightly related to the LORD.
The oppressed and the afflicted in Nigeria badly need a Passover. May this season be a Passover to freedom in Jesus Name. Many things happened during the historical Passover. Pharaoh died. His army of oppressors died. Their heirs died. Something must happen in the camp of the “Egyptians” once again!
What triggered Passover?
First, the iniquity of the people occupying where the people of God ought to be was full. It was God’s appointed time.
And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance… But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. (Gen 15:13-16)
Secondly, the people of God prayed, and God heard their prayers:
And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them. ?(Exo 2:23-25)
Is it not time to cry unto God on account of the drinkers of blood and eaters of flesh stalking the land? Is it not time to cry unto God on account of our brethren who are daily accounted as sheep for slaughter?
The Passover was a finely targeted war?
God heard their cries, and sent Moses to lead His people out.The Lord was about passing over the land, He gave specific instructions: every man was to take an unblemished lamb, kill it, and apply the blood to the lintels of the house. Secondly, whoever would escape the wrath of the LORD must stay within the houses covered by that blood.? They were to avoid leaven (symbolizing sin), and all would well:
For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. ?(Exo 12:23).
And Something Happened in Egypt!

And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said. (Exo 12:29-31)
Today is the day of Salvation
Let God hear your voice on account of the evils in the land. Let God hear your voice on account of the devastation going on in various parts of the world, where people are being afflicted because of His Name. Apostle Paul said : “From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. (Gal 6:17). ?Won?t you say the same too? Take cover under the blood as we pray:
- That God will visit the oppressors of His people with a mighty Passover even this season.
- That the Angel that delivered Israel will also pass through Nigeria, and do again what he did in the Land of Egypt to the enemies of peace.
- That the Lord will raise up a banner on behalf of the afflicted of His people.
- That the horses and riders pursuing the innocent in the land will drown after the order of Pharaoh
Happy Easter.
